Unit Definitions
This calculator uses the following key relationships between SI and conventional units:
Activity (A)
Activity is the number of radioactive decays per unit time. The standard SI unit is the Becquerel (Bq), and the conventional unit is the Curie (Ci).
$$1 \text{ Ci} = 3.7 \times 10^{10} \text{ Bq}$$
Absorbed Dose (D)
Absorbed dose is the energy deposited in a unit mass of material. The standard SI unit is the Gray (Gy), and the conventional unit is the Rad (rad).
$$1 \text{ Gy} = 100 \text{ rad}$$
Equivalent Dose (H)
Equivalent dose accounts for the biological effect of different types of radiation. The standard SI unit is the Sievert (Sv), and the conventional unit is the Rem (rem).
$$1 \text{ Sv} = 100 \text{ rem}$$
